School For Discipleship Thanksgiving & Commissioning Service

On Wednesday this week our School for Discipleship ended its year long study programme with a Thanksgiving and Commissioning Service held at Woodbury Avenue.

We were joined by Steve Brady who spoke to us from Hebrew 12:1-3 on ‘The Ultimate Marathon’, encouraging us as disciples to get going, keep going and never quit!

This past year, our first ever year for School for Discipleship, has been a real blessing on so many levels.  It has been encouraging to see how our cohort of 18 students from different local churches have worked together and become great friends over the course of the year.  It was lovely to see church leaders from those different local churches join with us to celebrate, along with the friends and families of our students.

Whilst Chris Sinkinson and Chris Jack have provided the majority of our teaching, we have been blessed throughout the year with excellent teaching from our pastoral staff and members here at Lansdowne Church, alongside visiting lecturers from other churches covering different specialisms.

School for Discipleship was, and still is, the vision of our Senior Pastor, Peter Baker, so it was very fitting and lovely to see Peter award our students with their certificates.

Thank you for all of the prayers and support that we as a team have received, please do continue to pray for our students as they carry on growing as disciples of Jesus within Lansdowne Church and the many other local churches represented.

We are looking forward to starting a new year in September 2025 with a new cohort of students!
